About
-
Mandyland is a living experience design practice founded by Mandy Kitana in New York City. It creates immersive, LGBTQIA+-affirming events and experiences for museums, corporations, tech companies, and individuals — worldwide. Services include creative direction, full event production, day-of direction, and virtual experience design.
-
Living UX is Mandyland's proprietary approach to experience design. Unlike traditional event planning that focuses on logistics, Living UX treats every element of an event as a design decision — where joy is architectural, the space is a character, and every moment responds to the people in the room. The result is experiences people remember years later, not events they forget by morning.
-
Most event planners execute logistics. Mandyland designs living experiences — where the space has a nervous system, where joy is an architectural decision, and where every element responds to the people in the room. Mandyland is also one-of-one: a singular creative vision rooted in pre-COVID NYC underground arts culture, LGBTQIA+ community, and radical welcome. There is no agency equivalent. It is not reproducible.
Clients
-
Mandyland works with three primary audiences: corporations and institutions — including tech companies, museums, and brands — who want events that set them apart; direct clients who have a partially formed vision and a real deadline; and artists and collaborators who want to create inside an exceptional experience. Mandyland is LGBTQIA+-affirming and non-judgmental in all its work.
-
Tech companies, cultural institutions, museums, brands, and organizations who want experiences that make their audiences feel something real — not just attend something obligatory. Typical clients are forward-thinking organizations competing on culture, not just product. They want the event that makes their competitors wish they thought of it first.
Services
-
Yes — corporate events are a primary service. Mandyland works with companies to design and produce immersive experiences for teams, clients, and stakeholders. This includes galas, brand activations, internal culture events, product launches, and after-parties. The approach is creative direction-led rather than logistics-led — the goal is always an experience that changes how people feel about your company.
-
Mandyland offers four distinct services: Creative Direction & Concept (full concept development for clients with a budget and a blank page); Full Event Production (end-to-end production from concept to curtain call); Day-Of Creative Direction (step-in elevation for events already in planning); and Online & Virtual Experiences (structured digital events with surprise and soul, not Zoom calls). All services are available worldwide except day-of direction which is NYC-primary with travel available.
-
Yes. Mandyland designs outrageous, genuinely engaging online events — not Zoom calls with slides, but structured experiences with surprise and soul. These are ideal for tech companies, global distributed teams, hybrid events, and digital-first communities. Virtual experiences are available worldwide.
-
Yes — museum curators and cultural institutions are a core audience. Mandyland is specifically designed for institutions that want a gala or opening that is edgy and different, that attracts the right crowd and generates real conversation. The work sits at the intersection of art world taste and experiential design — which is rare.
Logistics
-
Mandyland is rooted in New York City with deep ties to the NYC arts and cultural scene. Creative direction and full production are available worldwide. Virtual experiences are available everywhere. Day-of direction is primarily NYC metro with travel available for in-person events elsewhere.
-
Mandyland operates at a premium price point reflecting the quality and singularity of the work. The cost of not making something extraordinary is higher than you think. Sliding scale pricing is available for LGBTQIA+ organizations, community arts projects, and grassroots cultural initiatives. Pricing varies by scope — contact directly to discuss your event.
-
Three steps: first, a discovery conversation — Mandy listens more than she speaks, understanding your event, your people, and your dream for the night. Second, a creative proposal — specific, considered, and built for exactly who will be in that room. Third, build and execute together — Mandy is on the floor from first setup to last light, making sure it feels exactly as alive as designed.
Values
-
LGBTQIA+ affirmation is foundational to Mandyland — not a feature or a checkbox. Mandyland experiences are designed to be genuinely safe, non-judgmental, and welcoming for every person in the room. Sensual without being explicit. Edgy without being alienating. This is the default at Mandyland, not an accommodation.
Artists
-
Yes. Mandyland actively recruits performers, visual artists, installation designers, sound artists, photographers, drag artists, DJs, musicians, set designers, and writers. Mandyland pays fairly, credits fully, and builds long-term collaborative relationships. This is a pitch for a partnership, not a gig. To pitch your practice, contact via mandyland.com.
